Some of you may have seen preview of this outfit on Instagram.. There’s always a new way to use scallops and it looks like I’ll never get bored with this cute detail.. The blouse and the skirt are both my makes with selfdrafted patterns..

The blouse is my version of this button-down blouse I found on Pinterest.. I liked the simple look of V neckline and scalloped collar.. I was lazy to look for a blouse pattern that would be similar to this one, and I decided to draft my own using a basic top pattern.. To make things simpler for me, the scalloped collar is only at front of the blouse.. There’s nothing going on at the back.. Drafting went easily, I got everything right at start.. I used light gray rayon fabric and pearl buttons..

The skirt is a full circle skirt with inseam pockets and scalloped waistband.. I’ve made so many of these skirts in many colors, but this mustard is my favorite one.. The fabric is cotton twill, my favorite fabric for circle skirts because it gives them nice shape.. It's always nice to skip a seam if it's not needed.. That's why I mastered sewing side zipper with inseam pockets.. Nothing much to say about this skirt, it’s not my first or last time to make a full circle skirt..

When I look at these two garments together, I think that it would look better if the blouse had waist darts.. That way the blouse wouldn’t be too loosely fitted which would go better with the scalloped waistband of the skirt.. Anyways I love how the both garment turned out.. And I’m especially proud of myself for getting the blouse right from the first try..

  3. Beautiful set. The scallops on the skirt and shirt are well done. I prefer waist darts above side seam darts and yours are perfect.

  4. Love the scallops they are amazing, you did a great job! They make a normal shirt/skirt so interesting. I've never master the side zip with pocket, much better than having to have a CB seam.

  8. Why not suggest you do something fun and outdoorsy like go for a hike? My husband and I used to stroll through the Rose Gardens by my apartment, or just meet up somewhere with relatively low key hiking trails. You get to spend the time out in nature, and you’re moving your body, which generates endorphins.

Plus, you don’t have to be staring directly at the person the whole time, which can make conversation flow a little easier.
